We are happy to announce the University of Scranton's 2008 Family Weekend, which will be held from Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28. Choose from a variety of options:

  • Take a tour led by the Royal Ambassadors of the new DeNaples Center and novel additions to campus such as Dionne Green and Condron Hall.
  • Hear a distinguished Jesuit deliver a lecture on the Mystery of the Holy Grail, which he claims to have solved.
  • Challenge your friend’s family to a duel in trivia facts about NBC’s hit TV series The Office.
  • Cheer the Royals at Women’s Field Hockey vs. Susquehanna, our Alumni Lacrosse Festival, and the annual Purple vs. White Men’s Lacrosse Scrimmage.
  • Participate in a scholarly discussion:
    • Join faculty and students discussing the summer book read, Coyotes: A Journey Across Borders with America’s Illegal Migrants.
    • Listen to the President’s Summer Research Fellowship winners present their research findings.
    • Learn about the University’s unique liberal arts core curriculum.
    • Attend a philosophy class
  • Meet Student Government leadership.
  • Share a Family Brunch while listening to the Joe Boga Jazz Trio.
  • Attend a Carnival on the Green thrown by the University Student Programming Board.
  • Visit the clubs housed in the new Student Forum in the DeNaples Center.
  • Listen to a musical performance by our prestigious University Singers.
  • Sneak into a late night family movie with popcorn and beverages.
  • Visit and use the weight room, Murray-Royals Fitness Center, or take a swim in the pool.
  • Visit the campus bookstore.
  • Attend a University Players theater production of “I Hate Hamlet.”
  • Attend Mass celebrated by the Jesuits on campus.

Additionally, there will be special walking tours of historic downtown Scranton. There will be opportunities to visit the Steamtown Mall, National Trolley Museum, and the Anthracite Museum and Coal Mine Tour.
